Trust Services Limited: Our Charity: Port Dickson, Malaysia

Trust Services Limited - 'Seven Divisions, One Vision'

Late in 2007, whilst we were in Port Dickson, Malaysia sourcing companies to process materials for our Wholesale Division we were approached by Mr Gared Cubinar, Director of Operations of the Avillion Hotel Group in Malaysia, and Mrs Irene Wong, the PR & Events Manager for the Avillion Group to see if Trust Services Limited, along with multi-national companies including the Shell petroleum group would like to be involved in supporting a local Charity that provides accommodation & support for disadvantaged children, in and around the Port Dickson area.

We were delighted to accept their offer, and we had the pleasure of meeting Reverend Rebecca and the children at a magnificent Christmas Party, organised wonderfully by Irene and her colleagues at the Avillion Resort, and that really cemented our relationship.

On our return to Scotland the spirit of giving was still in full swing (!) as I went cap in hand to some of our suppliers, to drum up support for a project to get funds together to enable us to build a play area for the younger children, at the home.

June 2008, we were delighted to see the completed play area, which the children all really enjoy, indeed the carers at the home say the greatest problem is actually getting the children off the play area, to go to school or do other things! Also during this visit we took over 40 polo shirts that were very kindly donated at cost price by D & E Products in Hamilton, Douglas had them made in bright yellow, so when the children go out on outings as a group, it is very easy to see where they are! We have added the latest photos to the photo album, so you all can see the completed playground and the magnificent polo shirts! Reverend Rebecca specifically asked me to pass on her very grateful thanks to all of you who have supported and continue to support her and the children.

September 2010, the children took part in a T shirt drawing competition, the best three drawings are now on a tee shirt available to buy. The children's home has now expanded to two separate houses. All the children now have their own beds - previously they were sleeping on the floors. The next phase of the project is to build an external joint dining area between the two houses. Our continued thanks goes to ongoing donations from the UK - The children really appreciate it and it's great to see their progress during our visits.
